Our capabilities in new construction
Seismic isolation
Freyssinet has extensive experience in the field of seismic devices, from the design of the seismic protection strategy for specific structures to the supply and installation of systems designed, manufactured and tested by the group. This capability builds on its extensive track record and provides structural designers and clients with practical solutions to minimise seismic risks. Freyssinet Chile has several success stories of supplying complete seismic isolation projects.
Freyssinet Expansion Joints
Freyssinet offers a wide range of reliable, diverse joints, complemented by a unique design service.
You can count on Freyssinet for: – Design of roadway joints – Advice to the design office – Manufacture of roadway joints – Installation of joints by our specialised teams.
Tens of thousands of metres of Freyssinet joints are installed every year in more than 80 countries, including Chile, with a superb guarantee of durability and functions adapted to all climates and traffic conditions. Freyssinet road joints are certified and recognised by numerous organisations, including the Chilean Ministry of Public Works (MOP).
Post-tensioning
Freyssinet invented prestressing, which revolutionised civil engineering. Our C range offers a solution that combines performance and durability for all types of structures.
Guyed bridges
In 1989, Freyssinet invented the first individually protected multi-strand stay cable, the basis of Freyssinet technology for cable-stayed structures such as bridges. Freyssinet is a global leader in this type of structure.
Our repair capabilities
Carbon fibre structural reinforcements
Freyssinet specialises in repairing structures with carbon fibre, with the aim of re-establishing the initial strength of the structural elements, or even increasing their strength. It is very useful to use these repairs when the structure has been damaged by excessive overloads or accidents resulting from use.
Crack/crack injection in reinforced concrete
They can be used to repair superficially damaged elements of any reinforced or prestressed concrete structure to restore its mechanical strength and original appearance.
Maintenance of tie rods
Thanks to its long experience in the supply of stay cables for a wide range of new structures, Freyssinet has developed a complete range of technical solutions and services for the maintenance and repair of all types of stay cables and suspension cable systems.
Post-tensioning maintenance
We carry out specialised maintenance work to extend the service life of prestressed tendons, as well as emergency repairs to ensure the safety of structures after a cable has broken, or when the remaining load capacity is uncertain.
Integrated design and construction solutions for repairs
- Reinforcement, rehabilitation and maintenance of reinforced concrete and steel structures
- Maintenance of civil works
- Construction of bridges and viaducts
- Supply of seismic insulation systems and expansion joints

Puente Treng Treng Kay
Tie rods, instrumentation, monitoring and geometric controlTemuco, CHILE
The Treng Treng Kay Kay Bridge is located in the town of Temuco, in the Araucanía region of Chile. Its construction was completed at the end of March 2021. It is an asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge with a single mast, a total length of 240 metres and a main span of 140 m over the Cautín River. The deck, consisting of a 27-metre wide bi-cellular box girder, is made of prestressed concrete, as is the mast composed of two shafts that meet at a height of 55 m above the ground and culminate at a height of 75 m. The guying system consists of 24 front stays and 8 restraint stays. The type H2000 stays consist of a bundle of 31 to 75 strands in the central span and 127 strands for the restraint stays. With a resistance of 1860 MPa, the strands have a triple protection (single sheath, galvanised and mineral wax). In the free length, the stay beams are contained in a red sheath.
WORK CARRIED OUT BY FREYSSINET
Freyssinet’s work on the construction of the Treng Treng Kay Kay Bridge was varied:
- Supply and installation of the deck and mast prestressing tendons with units of 9 to 24 strands.
- Supply and installation of the stay cables.
- Supply, installation and follow-up of the monitoring system both during construction and in service of the bridge. The main parameters monitored were the geometry of the structure and the loads on the stay cables, both in real time.
- Carrying out of the load test of the structure.
Concessioned highway américo vespucio oriente
Post-tensioningSantiago, CHILE
This concessioned motorway includes, among other works, the Avenida El Salto – Príncipe de Gales section, which is a work that joins the Américo Vespucio ring road to motorway standards. The section between El Salto and Príncipe de Gales (AVO I) is 9 km long and runs through various districts of the metropolitan region. Two construction processes are distinguished within the project: covered trench, where the upper and intermediate slabs are post-tensioned, and a hybrid tunnel – trench solution in which the intermediate slabs are post-tensioned, equivalent to a total of 2,308 tonnes of active steel using different types of anchors and considering more than 13,000 anchors. The work includes a total of 92 top slabs, 189 intermediate slabs, 19 beams and a gantry, as well as the supply of Freyssibar type high-strength steel bars.
WORK CARRIED OUT BY FREYSSINET
Freyssinet’s work on the construction of the AVO I motorway included:
- Supply and transport to site of materials and post-tensioning equipment.
- Profiling, post-tensioning and grouting, including end cutting.
- Supply of Freyssibar type high-strength steel bars.
Pudahuel South Bridge
RepairsSantiago, CHILE
The Pudahuel South Bridge consists of 3 steel girders, a 9m wide deck and a total length of 75m, with 4 spans of variable length. Given the verifications of the permissible stresses of the different sections for the spans, the slab in the previous situation did not have the transversal reinforcement necessary to comply with the current regulations, and it was therefore recommended that the areas studied be reinforced.
The client asked Freyssinet to repair the Pudahuel Sur Bridge by reinforcing the structure, located on Route 68, in the municipality of Pudahuel, Santiago, metropolitan region.
Freyssinet carried out the assembly of 33 tons of scaffolding, 220 ml of welding, 1000m2 of painting, supply and installation of carbon fibre fabric reinforcement equal to 200m2, carbon fibre reinforcement with carbon fibre bars in 188 sections of 2ml. In addition to the aforementioned materials, the replacement of expansion joints and the installation of flat bars on the existing beams are also considered.

Freyssinet’s works in the repair of this bridge were:
- Crack injection.
- Concrete repair.
- Installation of deck plates and painting of beams.
- Installation of bars and carbon fibre fabric.
- Removal and installation of roadway joints.
